Dorothy “Dubie” Swanson, age 94 of Hastings, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Regina Medical Center in Hastings.
Dorothy M., the daughter of Stephen and Margaret (Huberty) Knoll, was born February 28, 1926, in Hastings. Of their six children, she was the last surviving one.
Dubie had many fun stories about growing up in “cowtown.” She loved talking to people which was an asset in her retail jobs. Wherever she went, she said, “You meet the nicest people.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lu Swanson; son in law, Don Saari; and special friend, Matt Towey.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Janet Saari and son, Randy (Susan) Swanson; grandchildren, Kindra, Tim Saari, Patty Braunger and Beth Porter; great grandchildren, Jazmin Enyart, Breanna Rodriguos, Devrah, Alexis Braunger, Kim, Jyelle, and Maverick Porter.
Due to Covid, memorial services are pending and will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hastings Family Service or Union Gospel Mission in memory of Dubie.
