Donald G. Amy was born on October 25, 1937, in Hastings, Minnesota, to Joseph and Marion (Cotter) Amy of Prescott, Wisconsin. He was the youngest of six children and arrived just a few minutes after his twin brother, David. The two shared a close bond that lasted throughout their lives.
Growing up, Don and David were active in sports, playing basketball, football, and baseball together. In their early twenties, they were part of a team that won the State Championship. Don also enjoyed golfing, hunting, and especially fishing, — often taking fly fishing trips with his wife, Liz, David, and sister-in-law, Dee Dee.
Don was a regular at Dugarel’s, where he spent time watching sports and trading opinions with friends. Over the years, he built lasting friendships with the staff there, especially with longtime bartender, Tiffany.
Don was preceded in death by his son, Eric (Rick) Amy; his parents, Joseph and Marion; and his siblings: Claire (Amy) Pederson and Paul John Pederson, Charles Amy, Paul Amy, Lois (Amy) Koskela and Lee Koskela, and David and Dee Dee (McClusky) Amy.
He is survived by his wife, Liz (Elizabeth Peterson) Amy; daughter-in-law, Eileen (Holder) Amy; granddaughter, Rachel Amy; sister-in-law, Jane Stensgaard (Don Swenson). He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and their families.
