December 28th 8:09 a.m. Officers took a theft from ice house in the 4000 block of Shannon Dr.
8:12 a.m. Officers observed a street sign laying in the middle of the median on the 500 block of Vermillion St. DOT and report completed.
4:23 p.m. Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Frontage Road for a motor vehicle theft. A unknown suspect took the victims vehicle while he left it running in the parking lot. No suspect information is known at this time. Vehicle was entered into NCIC as stolen. December 29th 8:30 a.m. Officers towed a vehicle covered in snow on the 300 block of 4th St. W. The vehicle had been plowed around and parked on a residential street for more than 24 hours. Report completed.
9:29 a.m. An officer observed a commercial moving- truck parked on the 100 block of 19th St. W. The vehicle had been plowed around and had not been moved in at least five days. The registered owner was a moving company out of Iowa. The moving company was issued a citation for having a semi-truck parked on a street for more than six hours and was towed from the scene.
10:29 a.m. Officers were dispatched to a suspicious circumstance call involving a bank account. Under investigation.
12:10 p.m. Officers observed a vehicle near the 300 block of 17th St. W. that had been parked on the street for more then 24 hours and had been plowed around. Vehicle towed and owner notified.
1:00 p.m. Officers observed a vehicle parked in a snowbank on the 3100 block of Cory Lane. The vehicle had been plowed in by a snow-plow. Pao Lao, 36 of Brooklyn Center, was issed a citation for the snow emergency parking violation, and his vehicle was towed.
1:00 p.m. HPD assisted another agency in the 100 block of 6th St. E.
1:01 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the area of 31st Street and Meggan Drive regarding an animal bite. Under investigation.
4:03 p.m. Officers took a theft report in the 900 block of 31st St. No suspects.
7:00 p.m. Officers enforced the snow emergency no parking.
8:55 p.m. Officers responded to the 300 block of Tiffany Drive for a suspicious person looking into a residence through a window. Upon further investigation, Tyler Malloy Kasel, 19 of Hastings, was arrested for stalking and interference with privacy.
10:31 p.m. Officers responded to the 100 block of 24th St. W. for a smell of Marijuana. After investigation officers spoke to a group home resident and staff about the smell.
December 30th 10:02 a.m. Officers conducted a welfare check in the 4000 block of Shannon Dr. The resident was found deceased inside the residence.
3:44 p.m. Officers responded to 1300 block of S. Frontage Rd on a theft report. Unknown suspects took items and left in a vehicle. Officers checked area.
December 31st 7:41 a.m. Hastings Officers responded to the 1900 block of Forest St. on a barking dog complaint.
9:43 a.m. Hastings Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of 33rd St. W. on a theft report. A Minnesota State Lottery Ticket was taken.
3:06 p.m. Officers were notified of an after the fact accident that occurred in the left turn lane for Eastbound Highway 55 and River Street.
3:07 p.m. Hastings Police investigated a complaint regarding to a potential executive order violation in the 300 block of 2nd St. E. Upon investigation the complaint was determined to be unfounded.
10:09 p.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Vermillion Street. After investigations the driver, Abdi Ahmed Mohamed, 37 of Burnsville, was arrested for a misdemeanor Scott County Warrant and issued a citation for misdemeanor – driving after revocation and misdemeanor – no proof of insurance.
10:32 p.m. Hastings Officers were requested to the 17000 block of Ravenna Trail by Dakota County Sheriff’s Office to assist with a traffic stop. Hastings Officers utilized their K9 to sniff the vehicle.
11:53 p.m. Officers responded to the 700 block of Bohlken Drive on a report of vandalism. Unknown suspects spray painted numbers on a garage door.
January 1st 3:36 a.m. An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on the 2100 block of Vermillion Street. The driver James Henry Nikolaisen, 52 of Farmington, was cited for expired registration and no proof of insurance.
10:44 a.m. Officers responded to the 700 block of Tyler St. on a report of an intoxicated male in a vehicle. Officers arrived and found a male subject slumped over in a vehicle. After investigating officers arrested Nathaniel Paul Sherwood, 32 of Hastings, for gross misdemeanor DWI.
1:43 p.m. Officers responded to a vandalism report in the 2000 block of Vermillion St. No suspects. Inactive.
4:00 p.m. Officers were called to an assault report in the 800 block of 10th Street West. KOPS alert issued. Under investigation.
7:19 p.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of 33rd Street West and Red Wing Boulevard. After investigations, officers will be formally charging Sunita Yang Koumarn, 34 of St. Paul, with gross misdemeanor – intent to escape tax.
10:02 p.m. An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Ravenna Trail and Glendale Road. The driver Michael Stuhr, 42 of South St. Paul, was issued a citation for expired registration.
January 2nd 10:56 a.m. Officer observed a vehicle with expired registration tabs traveling westbound in the area of Ravenna Trl/Progressive Drive. Officer initiated a traffic stop and was able to confirm the vehicles registration was expired. The driver Robert Terrence Stewart, 52 of Red Wing, was cited and released for expired registration.
11:36 a.m. Officers took a damage to property report over the phone which occurred on the 600 block of Maher Ave. The victims ice castle fishing house was damaged by an unknown suspect. The damaged caused was worth approximately $200. No suspects information.
3:55 p.m. Officers took a theft report over the phone that occurred on the 100 block of Tyler St. The victim advised she had approximately $3,000 worth of clothing taken.
January 3rd 1:13 a.m. Officers located a suspicious male at the 1100 block of Vermillion Street. Timothy Otto, 32 of Hastings, was taken into custody for 5th degree possession of a controlled substance.
2:10 a.m. An officer conducted a traffic stop near the 600 block of 2nd Street E. The driver Joseph Lee, 20 of Goodhue, was issued a citation for driving in violation of a drivers permit.
2:45 a.m. Officers observed a suspicious vehicle in the 3000 block of Lightbourn Court. After investigations Kenneth Edsel Mead, 21 of Hastings, was arrested for a felony Wisconsin Warrant and issued a citation for misdemeanor – driving after suspension, misdemeanor – operating vehicle with expired registration, and petty misdemeanor – possession of drug paraphernalia.
7:03 a.m. Officers checked on a vehicle that had been parked on a city street since the last snow emergency had been declared on 12/30/2020. The vehicle was towed. The owner David Latch, 65 of Hastings, was cited for the parking violation.
1:57 p.m. Officer stopped a vehicle at 6th Street East and Vermillion Street on a driving complaint. After investigating, the driver Chantel Bodway, 50 of Red Wing, was issued a citation for driving after cancellation.
3:30 p.m. Officers observed a vehicle with expired registration tabs traveling southbound in the area of 10th St/Vermillion St. Officer initiated a traffic stop and were able to confirm the vehicles registration was expired. The driver Nicolas Tschurl Kish, 40 of Cottage Grove, was cited and released for expired registration.
8:38 p.m. An officer took an after the fact assault report. This case is still under investigation.
9:09 p.m. An officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of 10th Street E. and Ramsey Street. The driver Tony Oney, 32 of Hastings, was issued a citation for driving without a valid license.
9:10 p.m. An officer took an after the fact vehicle hit and run report. There are no suspects at this time.
9:27 p.m. Officers responded to the Smead Parking Lot for a drunkenness call. The driver of the vehicle Kristi Kent, 25 of Hastings, was found to be impaired and was arrested for DUI. Kristi was booked at the Dakota County Jail for 3rd degree DUI.
9:54 p.m. Investigation of a death, per the medical examiner the body was turned over to the funeral home.
