DaVae R. Johnson, 85, of Hastings, passed away on March 18, 2023, with her husband of 63 years by her side. We all suffered a loss when she left, a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

She was born Feb. 27, 1938 to Maurice and Violet (Mensink) Turner in Preston, Minnesota and graduated from Rosemount High School in 1956.

On Oct. 24, 1959, she married Maynard Johnson at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Rich Valley. Together they raised their three girls in Hastings.

DaVae enjoyed cooking for her family and was especially known to put a great fish fry together while on vacation up north with family and friends. She was proud of her grandchildren and attended as many sports, dance, school and church events as possible. She also dedicated 10 years to the Fore Angels Classic providing the best pickles and beans every year. DaVae was a dedicated member of St. John’s Church in Rich Valley and in Hastings. After retirement, She and Maynard enjoyed road trips across the country and riding their electric bikes around Hastings.

Her love of family will forever be held dear and the legacy of being a great role model to her children and grandchildren will be missed.

Well done good and faithful servant... Matthew 25:23

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Maynard; children, Morli (Robert) Gamm, Malinda (Randy Gruber) Long, Heather (Jeremy) Henning; grandchildren, Emily (Ryan) Olsen, Max Gamm, Hannah Long, Alison Long, Brooke Henning and Coby Henning; brother, Jerry (Diana) Turner and other relatives and friends.

DaVae was preceded by her parents; two infant boys and granddaughter, Katie Gamm.
