Dale “Arf” Benjamin, age 84 of Cottage Grove and formerly of Hastings, died peacefully at home on Jan. 24, 2023.
Dale Arthur, the son of Clarence and Mary (McAllister) Benjamin, was born on Feb. 13, 1938, in Stewartville, Minnesota. Following his graduation from Humboldt High School, Dale began his life-long career of being an over the road trucker. For the last thirty-one years, he worked with Bell Transportation and loved every minute of it. On Aug. 2, 1969, Dale was united in marriage to Arlene Baggenstoss in Hastings, and she later preceded him in death on Nov. 13, 2016. Dale was a longtime member of the Clown Club, and will be remembered as The Booya Master around Hastings. He enjoyed 昀shing, especially in the Amery, Wisconsin area, and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Arlene; and recently by his daughter Lori Cullifer on Jan. 19, 2023.
Dale is survived by his children, Kim (Pete) Keetley, Connie (Joel) Ling, and Steve Schultz; grandchildren, Brooke (Chris) Graham, Kassey (Aaron) Marshall, Riley Cullifer, Katie Ling and Thomas Ling; great-grandchildren, Carter, Ashlynn, Calvin, Spencer, Madelyn, David; wife, Cheryl Yesulis; siblings, Donna (Roger) Urbanski, Robert D. (Kathy) Benjamin Sr., and Dennis (LeAnne) Benjamin; sister-in-law, Rosie Hentges; and by other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of both Dale and Lori’s lives was held from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 29, 2023, at the 2nd Street Depot in Hastings.
In lieu of 昀owers, memorials are preferred to Dale’s family in his memory.
