Dakota County seeks applicants for Public Art Citizen Advisory Committee

Posted

Dakota County residents with a passion for art are encouraged to apply for the county’s Public Art Citizen Advisory Committee.

The volunteer committee makes recommendations about public art installations to the Dakota County Board of Commissioners and supports community arts activities.

Over the years, the committee has mapped art in the county, sponsored a local art exhibit at the Western Service Center in Apple Valley and commissioned a sculpture that was installed at the Judicial Center in Hastings. The committee has also co-hosted Arts in the Park at Thompson Park in West St. Paul, created a YouTube playlist for a virtual Arts in the Park event and recommended art projects for county buildings.

Committee meetings are held monthly in Apple Valley or West St. Paul, or virtually during the pandemic.

The committee includes members who serve at-large and represent each county district. There are currently two at-large vacancies as well as openings representing: District 1 — Coates, Farmington, Hampton, Hastings, Miesville, New Trier, Randolph, Vermillion, and Dakota County townships.

District 3 – Lilydale, Mendota, Mendota Heights, Eagan Precincts 1-7 and 9-12 District 6 – Lakeville Applications are available online or by calling 651-438-4418. Applications are taken until all openings are filled. Incumbents may be eligible for reappointment.
