Dakota County residents can bring confidential paper like tax documents, financial statements and medical records for free shredding at upcoming events.
Only shred what you need to, such as documents with personal information on them including Social Security numbers or account numbers. Papers with only names and addresses are not considered confidential and should go in your home recycling cart.
Upcoming events are listed below. All are open 9 a.m.–noon unless noted otherwise.
Saturday, May 4
Lakeville Central Maintenance Facility. Open to residents of Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eagan and Lakeville.
Farmington Maintenance Facility. Open to residents of Farmington, Rosemount and Hastings.
Saturday, May 11
Cal Ruedy Public Works Building, Hastings. Open to residents of Hastings and Nininger, Denmark and Ravenna townships.
Saturday, May 18
Inver Grove Heights City Hall parking lot. Open to Inver Grove Heights residents.
Dakota County Technical College east lot, Rosemount. 8 a.m.–noon. Open to Rosemount residents.
Saturday, June 1
Burnsville Maintenance Facility. Open to residents of Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eagan and Lakeville.
Do not put shredded paper in home recycling. Shredded paper causes problems at recycling sorting facilities and may not get recycled. Use these events to help prevent identity theft, ensure shredded paper gets recycled and keep valuable paper out of landfills. Bring already shredded paper from home in a paper bag to The Recycling Zone in Eagan to recycle properly.
