The Dakota County Historical Society will host an “En Plein Air” painting event at the Sibley Historic Site from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 27. Admission for this event is $50 per person.
The Sibley Historic Site is located at 1357 Sibley Memorial Highway in Mendota. Registration is limited, so contact the Sibley Site at 651-452-1596 to reserve a spot. For more information, or to reserve online, please visit www.dakotahistory.org/sibley-historic-site.
The En Plein Air Painting Workshop is hosted by the Outdoor Painters of Minnesota. The term “en plein air” is a French expression meaning “in the open air.” This workshop will be led by instructor Jack Dant, a skilled en plein air painter who will share insights into the history of this art form in Minnesota, followed by a demonstration of oil painting techniques.
Registration is $50 and includes all art materials for the event. Participants will create and take home a painted 8”x10” portrait. The workshop is open to individuals of all ages and skill levels.
