Cross Country performs well at Conference Championships

On Oct. 17, Hastings Cross Country had their final test before the section meet, the Conference Championships. The meet was held at the St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park on St. Croix Trail north of Hastings.

The meet had teams from Hastings, Hill-Murray, Mahtomedi, North St. Paul, Simley, South St. Paul, St. Thomas Academy, Tartan and Two Rivers.

The girls ran the first race with both varsity and junior varsity running at the same time and as a team, Hastings placed second with a team score of 78. Two Rivers won the event with a score of 73. Hill-Murray placed third with 86, Mahtomedi fourth with 87 and rounding out the top five was Simley with 95.

Individually for Hastings, Linnea Ronning finished fourth overall with a time of 19:38.6, Ivy Brandenburg finished 12th overall with a time of 21:23.7, Sara Siebenaller finished 16th in 22:09.1. Lucy Burmeister finished 22nd in 23:05.2, Sienna McCoy 24th in 23:10.3, Elise Atkins 29th in 23:34.3 and Genevieve Lawson finished scoring in 30th with a time of 23:42.3.

Boys’ varsity followed the girls where Hastings placed third with 79 points. Two Rivers took first with a score of 28 and St. Thomas Academy placed second with 74. Mahtomedi finished fourth with a 106 and Simley rounded out the top five with 148.

Individually for Hastings, Tristan Herbst placed seventh with a time of 16:51.3, Aidan Stoltz 10th in 16:57.1, Noah Quigley 18th in 17:33.3, Aiden Reuter 20th in 17:46.9, Parker Stoltz 24th in 18:08.7, William Carry 31st in 18.42.4 and Parker McGinnis 37th in 19:10.7.

Cross Country Sections are scheduled to be at Valleywood Golf Course in Apple Valley on Thur. Oct. 26 starting at 11:30 a.m. for the boys and 12:15 for the girls.
