COVID-19 cases see a decline in Dakota County as fall takes season

Case numbers for COVID-19 are seeing a decline once again across Dakota County as the CDC released updated data on Monday, October 4 tracking reported case numbers and positivity rates from the previous week.

As September has now turned to October, Dakota County’s COVID-19 transmission rate still sits at high risk, especially for those who are unvaccinated, as the CDC reported a 7.04 percent positivity rate, a 0.44 percentage increase from last week. There were also 23 new hospitalizations reported for COVID-19 in Dakota County on Monday as there were also 133 confirmed new cases of COVID-19 for the county.

The case rates per 100,000 residents over the last seven days for Dakota County is at 221.90 according to data reported by the Minnesota Department of Health on Monday. Dakota County’s case rate is the sixth lowest for a county in the state as of Monday, October 4. There are currently 952 active cases in Dakota County. Cases dropped by 3.05 percent over the last seven days.
