On Saturday, Feb. 8, Jenny Wiederholt-Pine, 44, died unexpectedly but peacefully at Regina Medical Center in Hastings. She is survived by her husband Mike Pine and her three children.
The cause of the death has not yet been released.
Widerholt-Pine, alongside her husband Mike, her brother Jesse, and sister-in-law Becky ran Wiederholt’s supper club in Miesville. The business dates back to the 1920s and has been a grocery store, filling station, and tavern before transforming into the famous supper club known today by 1961.
She graduated from Winona State and worked as a Benefits Advisor for Kraus Anderson.
A longtime fan of soccer both as a player and a coach, Wiederholt-Pine coached at Hastings Football Club United and “fought to bring out the best in all of her players and all those that knew her,” according to a Facebook post from HFC United.
She was also a passionate equestrian, winning the 2024 Non Pro Saddle and Reserve Champion of the Intermediate Non Pro for the North Central Reining Horse Association.
“She was a respected competitor but was better known for her positive good nature and encouragement to others,” according to a Facebook post from North Central Reining Horse Association.
Citing her pride as an alumna of Hastings High School, in September 2023, Wiederholt-Pine announced her candidacy for director of the ISD 200 school board and was elected later that year. Her goal while on the school board was for “every child in Hastings to have the same exceptional opportunities that I was fortunate to enjoy while growing up here,” according to her website.
Wiederholt-Pine oversaw various accomplishments at the school board including becoming chair of the new Community Collaboration Committee, a committee that focused on bettering the district’s communication with stakeholders.
“We are in shock by the sudden loss of our fellow school board member and friend, Jenny Wiederholt-Pine. She leaves an unfillable void on our board and in our community. She had a huge heart and was a very positive, high-energy, and ambitious person. She always worked hard to do the right thing. She dedicated a large part of her life to not only her kids, but all kids in the community through her work on the board and coaching. She was a true leader and will be greatly missed,” a statement from the school board said.
The Wednesday, Feb. 12 school board work session has been postponed until Feb. 19. The Feb. 19 Community Collaboration Committee meeting will be rescheduled to a future date.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel 3-8 p.m. Feb. 17.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Feb. 18 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. The reception will take place afterward at 11 a.m.
Rather than flowers, Wiederholt-Pine’s family requests memorials be made to Miesville Fire Department or to a cause of the donor's choice in her memory.
