The third annual Drive Out Hunger golf tournament was held at the Hastings Golf Course on Tuesday, June 13, raising $16,713 for Hastings Family Service. Event organizer Kelly Carter, HFS Development and Community Relations Coordinator, said the day could not have been better.
“We had a beautiful day for golf and 20 foursomes came out to support HFS,” said Carter.
According to HFS Executive Director Amy Sutton, the need is growing as HFS has served record numbers of families through the Market Food Shelf this Spring.
“The Hastings Golf Club provided a beautiful venue and exceptional service for the event,” said Sutton.
Drive Out Hunger was made possible by three tournament sponsors: Farmers Insurance – Jim Allen Agency, Merchants Bank, and Smead Manufacturing; with Culver’s hosting dinner, Nine Eagles & Plastic Printers as the Swag sponsor, Regina Hospital hosting lunch, and MidCountry Bank as the cart sponsor. Additionally, eighteen businesses sponsored holes and provided fun and freebies throughout the course.
Winning team was the team of Brian Radke, Mike Mohrhauser, Sam Otto and Tim Tousignant
Second Place team was Chad Collignon, Todd Seeman, Craig Beissel and Matt Stengle
Ladies longest drive: Kari Day
Mens longest drive: Brian Radke
Closest to the Pin: Sam Otto
Longest Putt: Dennis Tennessen
Vermillion Insurance sponsored the Hole in One contest, but no one won the $10,000!
The Hastings Networking Group had fun with the putting contest and Jen Fox from Spiral Brewery offered samplings before the golfing.
“Event volunteers, the staff of the Hastings Golf Course, and the planning committee were instrumental in the success of the day along with great business sponsors and golfers,” said Carter. “We are grateful to be in an amazing community that jumped right in to help us make Drive Out Hunger a success!
