The City of Hastings has been using a notification system called Nixle to send text messages to residents that signed up for the program. The types of notifications that has been sent out were for things like snow emergencies, closures of outdoor facilities like rinks and athletic fields.
They have not selected a new notification processor but expect to do so by the end of January 2025. You can visit their web page with links to the Dakota County Emergency Alert Notification System, the email list sign up and news release sign up. Visit www.hastingsmn.gov/textme to sign up for the existing lists and bookmark that page to see when they pick the new text message provider.
