Applications for 2024 Community Investment Fund project proposals are open, with a first review of applications set for March 5, 2024. The City created a Community Investment Fund (CIF) three years ago to encourage and support community partnerships and community-driven projects and has provided $100,000 in funding each year.
After March 5, applications will be reviewed on a first-come basis to the extent funds remain available. There is not a maximum grant award; however, the City may limit grants in order to fund multiple project applications. Matching dollars are not required by the CIF program but will help demonstrate community support, as well as help the CIF funds go further to partner with multiple projects.
Projects should be community-supported public amenities. Examples include, but are not limited to the following:
• Streetscape beautification and walkability.
• Enhancements to parks or athletic facilities.
• Trails and non-motorized infrastructure.
• Public art.
• Improved access to public amenities.
• Tourism amenities.
• Historic preservation or commemoration.
• Studies to investigate otherwise eligible projects.
A Zoom meeting video is available on the city website for information on the types of projects and the application process.
To apply, view and download the application at https://www.hastingsmn.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/11714.
Prior to submission of an application, potential applicants are encouraged to meet with City staff to discuss the proposed project and CIF requirements. Contact Parks & Recreation Director Chris Jenkins with questions at 651-480-6175, or by email at email@example.com.
