Caroline Ann Brochman, age 83, of Hastings, Minnesota, passed away on August 18, 2026, just five days shy of her 84th birthday.
Caroline was born on August 23, 1942, in Stillwater, Minnesota, to Albert and Margaret Fritsche. Throughout her life, Caroline was deeply devoted to her family, her faith, and the many friendships she treasured along the way.
On May 6, 1961, Caroline married Gerald Lorentz in Lake St. Croix Beach, Minnesota. Together, Caroline and Gerald shared many years of marriage and spent time living between Wisconsin and Texas, creating a lifetime of memories together. Gerald passed away in August 2006.
In the years following Gerald’s passing, Caroline found companionship and love again with Norbert Brochman, a longtime friend of both Caroline and Gerald. Their friendship grew into something more, and Caroline and Norbert were married on August 27, 2024, in Hastings, Minnesota. Their marriage was a beautiful reminder that love and companionship can find us at every season of life.
Caroline was deeply devoted to her faith, which remained an important and constant part of her life. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in New Trier and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Vermillion.
Caroline knew how to enjoy life. She loved traveling to Texas for the winter, trying her luck at the casinos, and sitting down for a competitive game of cards. She enjoyed good company, plenty of laughter, and, on the right occasion, a good vodka and Squirt. Those who knew Caroline will remember her for the personality and spirit she brought to gatherings and for the many friendships she maintained throughout her life.
Caroline is survived by her husband, Norbert Brochman; stepson, Nicholas (Elizabeth) Brochman; stepdaughter, Michelle (Michael) Kiem; stepgrandchildren, Kyle Banks and Rylie (Cody) Boesel; great-stepgrandchildren, Hadley and Waylon Boesel; siblings, Shirley Gary, Barb Fritsche, Harriet London, and Roy Fritsche; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Margaret Fritsche; her first husband, Gerald Lorentz; and her siblings, Alice Hoaglan, Marion Waldorf, Paul Fritsche, and Irene Camillo.
Caroline’s life was one of faith, family, friendship, and enjoying the moments that made life worthwhile. From winters in Texas and evenings around a card table to time spent with the people she loved, Caroline created memories that will continue to be shared by those who knew her.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
