The Section 3AA swim meet was held at Blue Water Aquatic Center in Apple Valley. The event was supposed to be over three days with preliminary swimming on Wednesday, diving on Thursday and the finals for swimming on Friday, but Mother Nature had other ideas. The swimming was supposed to be two races, starting with a qualifying race before a seeded finals race for each event. Instead, they switched to a single-timed race for each event. Diving was not affected except for the date change. Swimming was moved to Friday and diving to Saturday.

The boys held a mini-section tournament at a practice before the big day to have one last chance to work on their races besides the standard build-up to a section meet.
At the section meet, the Raiders performed well with 90 percent of the team having individual best times and 18 top-16 finishes. On the diving side, Hastings sent two divers to the section meet and both finished in the top eight. Unfortunately, the Raiders had no one qualify for state even though several swimmers came close.

“It was a great season,” said Head Coach Katie McAlpin. “We had fun, worked hard, grew together, and made lots of memories! This year's team is definitely one of my favorite teams we have ever had. Everyone is so unique, and they all fit together like a perfect puzzle. With a young team of only 15 kids, I am very proud of their finish. Half of our team is 7-9th graders. We have a great opportunity to grow in the coming years.”

Congratulations to the Raiders on a great season and bet of everything to both seniors, Tyler Wood and Adam Duer.
