The Raider Boys swim and dive team celebrated their seniors on Jan. 31 as part of their meet against Cretin-Derham Hall. Hastings will graduate two amazing young men, Adam Duer and Tyler Wood, both of whom have been an integral part to the Raiders successes this year.

Against Cretin, Hastings won 91-73 and both Wood and Duer were selected as the swimmers of the meet.

“We want to thank our seniors for their years of dedication to our team,” said Head Coach Katie McAlpin. “You will be missed next year.”

The win over Cretin-Derham Hall gave the Raiders a shot to secure second place in the conference with a win over Two Rivers on Feb. 2nd.

The Raiders travelled to Mendota Heights to take on the Warriors and defeated them 94-89 securing second place in the Metro East Conference.

“Every person on our team got a season or lifetime best in at least one event,” said McAlpin. “Swimmer of the meet was Garrett Watterson. Garrett dropped two seconds in his 100 breaststroke with a lifetime best time taking first. This finish was a huge help towards our end score. Diver of the meet was Thomas Foss. Thomas performed very consistently and confident through diving and had a fun meet. Extra shout out to; Adam and Tristan for both cutting four seconds in their 200 IM. Liam cut a second in the 50 free and broke a min in his 100 free, and Kenrick cut seven seconds in his 100 breaststroke. All in all it was a great meet!”

The next official meet for the Raiders is sections Feb. 22nd-24th, all starting at 6 p.m. There is a diving invitational on Feb. 11th that Hastings is hosting starting at 11 a.m.
