Wednesday morning, April 19th, around 9:04 a.m. Hastings Police received a call for a man hanging from a tree at Roadside Park in Hastings. Within a minute, an officer responded on the radio correcting the report stating there was a man hanging from the playground equipment. The scene was quickly secured and tarped and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner was called to process the scene. The scene was cleared just before 11:00 a.m. with no threats to the general public.

After the responding officer made the call at 9:05 a.m. regarding a man hanging from the playground equipment, several officers were on the scene and had the area tarped off from the general public until the medical examiner could arrive. The medical examiner arrived sometime around 10:15 a.m. and it took about 45 minutes to process the scene.

Deputy Chief Bryan Schowalter was supervising the scene and could only confirm that it was an active death investigation and there was no known or expected threat to the public. Later, the City of Hasting released a statement from Police Chief David Wilske regarding the incident.
