A Special Meeting of the School Board of Independent School District No.200, Hastings, Minnesota, was held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the Hastings District Office, Conference Room A.
The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Lisa Hedin at 7:30 AM.
The following members of the Board were present: Mark Zuzek, Carrie Tate, Jessica Dressely, Stephanie Malm, and Lisa Hedin. Members absent: Becky Beissel and Brian Davis. Superintendent Champa was also present.
After the Pledge of Allegiance a motion was made to approve the agenda. This motion was made by Mark Zuzek and seconded by Jessica Dressely. The vote was: 5 ayes, 0 nays, motion carried unanimously.
Brian Davis arrived at 7:32 AM.
A motion to approve the Election and wave the reading of the resolution was made by Jessica Dressely
RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETURNS OF VOTES OF SCHOOL DISTRICT GENERAL AND SPECIAL ELECTION
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a Special Meeting of the School Board of Independent School District No. 200 (Hastings Public Schools), State of Minnesota, was duly held in said school district on the 15th of November, 2023, at The District Office for the purpose, in part, of canvassing its Special election.
The following members were present:
Lisa Hedin, Stephanie Malm, Carrie Tate, Mark Zuzek, Brian Davis, and Jessica Dressely
and the following were absent:
Becky Beissel
Member Jessica Dressely moved the adoption of the following resolution:
RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETURNS OF VOTES OF
SCHOOL DISTRICT GENERAL AND SPECIAL ELECTION
BE IT RESOLVED by the School Board of Independent School District No. 200, State of Minnesota, as follows:
1. It is hereby found, determined, and declared that the general and special election of the voters of this school district held on November 7th, 2023, was in all respects duly and legally called and held.
2. As specified in the attached Abstract and Return of Votes Cast, a total of 6,911 voters of the district voted at said general election on the election of four school board members for four year term vacancies on the board caused by expiration of term on the first Monday in January next following the general election as follows:
● Nancy Blanchard - 2,480
● Matt Bruns - 3,097
●Jenny Wiederholt-Pine - 3,340
● Brandy Wentzler - 2,938
● Mariah Ring - 2,923
● Pamela J. Onnen - 1,107
● Matt Seeger - 3,038
● Melissa Millner - 3,324
● Philip Biermaier - 3,048
● Write-In - 45
3. Jenny Wiederholt-Pine, Melissa Millner, Matt Bruns and Philip Biermaier having received the highest number of votes, has been elected to the term beginning on the first Monday in January, 2024 and expiring on the first Monday in January, 2028.
4. As specified in the attached Abstract and Return of Votes Cast, a total of 6,911 voters of the district voted at the said general and special election pertaining to the school district question of a Tech Levy, the results are as follows:
● Yes - 3,535
● No - 3,089
5. The response to the Tech Levy question of Yes received the highest number of votes was duly passed and the first year will be the 2024 payable year.
6. The clerk is hereby directed to certify the results of the election to the county auditor of each county in which the school district is located in whole or in part.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Member Mark Zuzek and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof:
Lisa Hedin, Stephanie Malm, Carrie Tate, Mark Zuzek, Brian Davis, and Jessica Dressely
and the following voted against the same:
None
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.

I, the undersigned, being the duly qualified and acting Clerk of Independent School District No. 200 (Hastings Public Schools), State of Minnesota, hereby certify that the attached and foregoing is a full, true and correct transcript of the minutes of a meeting of the school board of said school district duly called and held on the date therein indicated, so far as such minutes relate to canvassing the results of the general and special election of said school district, and that the resolution included therein is a full, true and correct copy of the original thereof.
