Barbara A. Maher, age 71, of Hastings, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday morning, January 26, 2024; just two days after being diagnosed with cancer.

Barbara Ann, the daughter of Gordon and Ruth (Alexander) Hauschildt, was born on May 21, 1952, in Farmington, Minnesota. Following her graduation from Red Wing High School, she married the love of her life, John, on April 17, 1971, in her hometown of Welch, MN. Barbara was a dedicated and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who found strength in her family and faith. Known for her generosity, she always put others before herself with her kind heart. She loved hosting family gatherings and enjoyed cooking and baking for her loved ones. Barb was the strongest, most compassionate, and loving person. Anyone was blessed to have her in their life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Ruth Hauschildt and infant daughter, Brenda.

Barb is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, John; 5 daughters and their families:

Beth (Howard) Shofner, children Natalie, Alex, and Adam.

Bobbi (Brad) Sneen, children Maria Kasel and Taylor Sneen.

Billie Maher (Mark Beebe).

Barbie (Jamie) Collins, children John and Marisa.

and Brea (Brian) Klingelhoets, children Hailey, Valerie, and Lacey.

Siblings: Deborah St. John, Gary (Gloria) Hauschildt, and Kathy (Kevin) Clemens.

Special family member Dan Reedy, as well as many nieces and nephews, family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings, with Father David Hennen officiating. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday morning at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Hastings, MN and a reception back at the church after the burial.
