Residents of Ward 1 in the City of Hastings interested in serving on the Hastings City Council take note!
The Hastings City Council on Monday night approved the resignation of Councilmember Tina Folch, who is stepping down effective March 11 because she plans to move out of the city.
Folch’s term runs through Dec. 31, 2024, so the city council will approve an applicant to fill out that term.
An information session for those interested in serving will be held Feb. 12 at 5:30 p.m. at city hall.
“It is not a required session but will give interested parties an overview of what is involved in being a councilmember,” said Assistant City Administrator Kelly Murtagh.
Applications are available on the city website and will be accepted through Feb. 22, with council interviews beginning Feb. 26.
An appointment is set to be made at the March 18 city council meeting.
Ward 1 is, for the most part, east of Vermillion Street
