Anthony “Tony” M. Nelson, 65, peacefully passed away on March 6th, 2021. Tony was born in Hastings, to Maurice and Ann (Kurowski) Nelson. He grew up on the farm with 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Tony worked as a mechanic in one way or another his entire life. He loved Nascar, the Minnesota Vikings and all things Ford.
In 1995, he was given a second chance at life with the gift of a kidney transplant from his friend and neighbor Kenny Kusske. That single kidney lasted him the remainder of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, John K. Nelson; sister-in-law, Margie Nelson; and great-grandson, Masen Peterfeso. Tony is survived by daughters, Jennifer (Jeff) Olson, Melinda (Bob) Williams, Kristina Wilson, and Elizabeth (Pat Gilbertson) Nelson; sisters, Nancy Nelson and Roseanne (Dave) Gilmore; brothers, Clifford (Joyce) Nelson and Richard Nelson; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and his fur buddy, Apollo.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 from 1 to 5 pm at Spring Lake Park Reserve.
