A Wrong View of God
Some folks today, see God in a way that His written word, the Bible, doesn’t describe Him. Some see Him as a distant angry rule keeper that is looking to punish people for having fun. Some see Him as a wishy washy old and outdated figure who will simply overlook what His written word communicates. Some have the audacity to change what God has documented in the Bible for centuries to fit our present day thinking. In the midst of this confusion they seem to misunderstand our role in the human story.
I actually had some of these same misconceptions until I actually read the letter He left for humanity called the Bible. So let me make a simple breakdown from God’s revealed word.
God is perfect and above all others. Isaiah 55:8–9 God sees what we can’t see. Isaiah 40:12-28 Mankind rejected God all throughout history all the way back to the first people based on lies from God’s enemy Satan. Genesis 3 God has been building a bridge back to humanity since the rebellion, in order to rescue humans from their separated state. The entire Old Testament Jesus is God’s bridge. John 14:6 We often reject God’s bridge, invent your own and miss being rescued. Mark 16:16 We are called to accept God’s bridge and return to Him. John 3:16 If after reading this through, you differ in your view of God’s plan and purpose relating to creation, I encourage you to read God’s written word to validate or correct your way of thinking about God. It has always been my practice to seek the truth from the horse’s mouth when it is available, and it is. You could also speak to someone who has spent a longtime seeking to know the God of the Bible.
