Jon Lindberg, age 76 of Hastings, died peacefully at Abbott Northwestern Hospital on Monday evening, May 23, 2022.

Jon Lester, the son of Lester and Frances (Sigloh) Lindberg, was born on December 31, 1945, in Kenmare, North Dakota. Following his graduation from High School, Jon continued his education in Civil Engineering. On July 12, 1966, Jon enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and actively served in the Vietnam War prior to being honorably discharged on March 10, 1969, but was forever proud of being a Marine and Veteran. After a blind date on the Fourth of July, Jon was united in marriage to Janie Munford that same year on December 18, 1971. They enjoyed many things throughout their lives, and were blessed with the opportunity of celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary this past December. Jon was a longtime Engineering Consultant with Met Council where he enjoyed supervising many projects over the years. In his free time, Jon enjoyed helping family and friends with various projects, fishing, trap shooting, going for rides around Hastings, having coffee with his buddies a the Legion, and volunteering for Toys for Tots with Janie. Jon was the Commander and lifetime member of the American Legion Post 47 in Hastings, and was also a lifetime member of the VFW Lyle Russell Post 1210.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jon is survived by his wife of fifty-years, Janie; children, Andrew (Katy) Lindberg and Sara Lindberg (signifi- cant other, Ross Headrick); grandchildren, Alison and Zachary Lindberg; siblings, Dean (Verna) Lindberg, Curtis (Vicki) Lindberg, and David (Maria) Lindberg; and by many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2022, at St. Philip’s Lutheran Church in Hastings, with Pastor Gregory Geier officiating. Military Honors provided by Hastings VFW Lyle Russel Post 1210 and Metro Marines.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation for one hour prior to the service at church, and to a reception immediately following the service at 2nd Street Depot, all on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, Jon’s family requests memorials be given to Toys for Tots, United Heroes League, or to anything that supports your local Veteran’s in his memory.
