Kate Specht 1950-2022

Kate Specht, 71, of Hastings passed away unexpectedly on March 27 at Regina Hospital in Hastings.

She was born May 7, 1950 to Gregory and Mary “Dolores” (Ruhr) Reuter in Hastings, Minnesota and graduated from Hastings High School with the class of 1968.

Kate worked in Hastings her entire life, having retired from the Country Inn Hotel after 20 years.

When not tending to her bird feeders and 昀owers, or 昀oating in the pool in the backyard , Kate enjoyed time with her family and friends. She loved being out with people from bowling league, nights at the Eagles Club or playing euchre. Her love and energy was deeply loved by all and her Boss-like tendencies and dedication to her family will be greatly missed… Um hello, true story!

Kate is survived by her husband of over 40 years, Wayne; children, Sarah (Tom Waldera) Specht, Karla (Harry) Singh, Kristy Specht and Ryan Specht; siblings, Dave (Kathy) Reuter, Elaine (Don) Adkins, Maureen Reuter, Mary (Ken) Murray; sisterin- law, Denise Reuter, and many beloved nieces, nephews and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Larry Reuter.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 3:00 pm Monday, April 4, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Vermillion, with visitation from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at the church. Interment will be in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by the Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
