Joan Gove 1941-2022

Joan Gove, 80, of Hastings, Minnesota, formerly of Long Prairie passed away peacefully in her sleep, with her beloved daughter Deanna at her side, after many years battling Frontotemporal Dementia.

Joan Ann was born May 14, 1941 in Hastings, Minnesota to Albert and Clara (Majeski) Conzemius. She graduated with the class of 1959 from Hastings Senior High School.

On June 30, 1962 Joan married Ray Gove and together raised their three children.

Joan was a truly loving mother, devout wife and partner with Ray. While dedicating her time to raising a family, she was also a driving force behind the scenes with Ray’s career, as he directed the Long Prairie/Grey Eagle High School Band, Minnesota’s Marching M’Bassadors. Joan spent countless hours working with the band and had a deep love for music, the marching band, and all the students who touched her and Ray’s lives.

While gardening, crafts and making the Christmas season special were among her hobbies, spending time with her children and grandchildren truly brought Joan the greatest joy. She loved her family dearly and cherished every minute she spent with them.

She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Ray; children, Deanna (Tom) Werner of Hastings, Brian (Christine) Gove of St. Paul and Scott (Tina) Gove of Lake Elmo; grandchildren, Brittany (Ethan) Hiedeman, Lucas Werner (special friend Juliana Brandt) and Amy (Joe) Hujet; 1 great-grandson, Calvin Hiedeman; siblings, Sharon Johnson and Alberta (Dan) Judge.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Richard “Fritz” Johnson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings, with visitation one hour prior at the church. The Funeral Mass will be live-streamed on the funeral home website.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at the Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel in Hastings.

The family wishes to direct all donations to the A.F.T.D. Association for Frontotemporal Dementia, 2700 Horizon Drive, Suite 120, King of Prussia, PA, 19406 Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
