Hastings joined the Twin Cities edition of this program in 2016 and has been going strong ever since. This year, music started around town in the morning and early afternoon then moved to the Rotary Pavilion downtown for the evening.

The morning started with a fun group, Dixieland Pickup Band (Dixieland Jazz) as they performed for morning commuters from the intersection of 4th and Vermillion from 7:00 a.m. to 7:45 a.m.

Vermillion Falls Park played host to Bobby, Christine and Friends (Pop, Folk, Rock) for their performance from 11:00 to 11:45.

The Bored (Rock n’ Roll) rocked out at Wallin Park 12:15 to 1:00 followed up by Back <- Track (acoustic Folk, Rock & Country) at Lions Park from 1:30 to 2:15.

The final act to play around town before the focus moved to the Rotary Pavilion in Levee Park was Relax with Max (surf guitar) from 2:45 to 4:45 at Roadside Park.

From 11:00 to 4:00 at the various sites, there were give-a-ways of music books, drumsticks, harmonicas and other goodies.

The give-a-ways transitioned to Levee Park from 4:00 to 8:00, where they added music trivia between acts along with food trucks, sno-cones, popcorn and candy.

The evening acts kicked off at the levee with Fiddlestix (Americana) 4:00 to 4:45 then The Red Ones (acoustic) 5:00 to 5:45. They were followed up by Romeo Delta from 6:00 to 6:45 then the vocalists from Hastings Sings / Minnesota Sings took over from 7:00 to 7:45. The final band to play was the River Valley Band, a group of instrumentalists from the area from 8:00 to 8:45.

Kids were treated to a variety of options to make their own music as part of Make Music Day 2021. Here, drumsticks from VIC and harmonicas from BluesBand are show for part of the free items given out. Photo courtesy of the City of Hastings.
