Imagine going to work each day, getting smiles and hugs from lots of appreciative kids. That’s the greeting fourth-grade teacher Aimee Ferguson receives each morning when she starts her day. “I had great role models in my own education, and I wanted to be just like them,” said Ferguson.

Aimee, who attended UW River Falls as an undergraduate and has a master’s degree from Concordia St. Paul, has been sharing laughs, lessons and learning with her students for 18 years.

“I have always loved working and helping children,” she said. “It’s the best job to be with kids all day, having fun as we learn.”

“One of the greatest things about being a teacher is seeing the moments where a previously unknown topic or fact suddenly makes sense, and you see the smile come across their face when they realize they were successful,” Ferguson said.

Ferguson is an extremely dedicated teacher, always trying to bring the best to her students.

“I wish parents knew how much time I spend outside of classroom hours, thinking about new ways to reach their child, whether it is for academics or social emotional growth and learning,” she said.

When she’s not in the classroom, Aimee stays busy hitting up extracurricular activities such as sports with her kids Vincent and Ruby. She and her husband have also discovered a newfound love of theater, recently seeing both Hamilton and Wicked.

Hastings kids and families are incredibly lucky to have dedicated and highly trained teachers like her helping our children grow into amazing young adults, and preparing them for a successful future.

Our entire community benefits immensely from teachers like Aimee Ferguson. With her, we are #200Strong.
