Alyssa Weispfennig, who teaches first graders at Kennedy Elementary, truly brings passion and fun into her classroom each day.

“There is never a dull moment, and every day is different,” Weispfenning said. “I became a teacher because I have a love for children and want to positively impact their lives in one way or another.”

A graduate of UW-Stout with a master’s degree in Education from Concordia University in St. Paul.

Alyssa believes in building and developing strong connections with students, so they know that she cares and fully supports them.

“I want to make these positive connections, so they trust me to challenge their thinking and learning, to help them grow as individual learners,” she said. “There is so much joy in watching their face light up when something finally ‘clicks’ for them.”

Making these connections, and helping her students succeed, has paid off for her personally as well. Along with the learning happening in her classroom, is lots of laughter.

“Children have such great senses of humor. I find joy in making learning fun and hearing children laugh with each other while growing academically,” she said.

If Weispfenning could share one key thing with parents, it would be that she truly loves and cares for each and every student.

“I develop strong connections with them throughout the year, and truly want what is best for them,” she said. “I will never know them as well as a parent, so having a strong parent/teacher relationship is important for the success of a child.”

Alyssa likes to spend time with her family and friends, which includes camping, hiking, and swimming. When she is not helping our little ones grow and thrive, she also enjoys watching the MN UFC team - Go Loons!

Creating a safe place, where kids are supported and cared for, helps them grow academically. Teachers like Alyssa who create these spaces are why we are #200Strong!
