A Special Meeting of the School Board of Independent School District No. 200, Hastings, Minnesota, was held on Monday, October 30, 2023, at the Hastings ISD 200 District Office in Conference Room A.
The meeting was called to order by School Board Chairperson Lisa Hedin at 6:02 PM.
The following board members were present at the opening of the meeting: Jessica Dressely,
Lisa Hedin, Brian Davis, Mark Zuzek and Stephanie Malm. Superintendent Champa and
Principal Scott Doran were also present.
The item before the board is to move to a closed session pursuant to Minnesota Statutes
section 13D.05 subd 2(a)(3), which allows the Board to go into a closed session for consideration of proposed student expulsions. Brian Davis made a motion to close the session,
Stephanie Malm seconded. The vote was: 4 ayes, 0 nays, motion carried unanimously.
Meeting moved to a closed meeting located in Conference Room A at the District Office at 6:04 PM.
A motion to adjourn from a closed session to an open meeting was made by Stephanie Malm and seconded by Brian Davis. The vote was: 5 ayes, 0 nays, motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Brian Davis to introduce, adopt and waive the reading of the Resolution Expelling Student A. Jessica Dressely seconded the foregoing resolution. Those voting in favor of the resolution: Jessica Dressely, Mark Zuzek, Brian Davis, Stephanie Malm, and Lisa Hedin. Those voting against: none. Whereupon said Resolution is declared duly passed and adopted.
A motion was made by Stephanie Malm to introduce, adopt and waive the reading of the Resolution Expelling Student B. Mark Zuzek seconded the foregoing resolution. Those voting in favor of the resolution: Jessica Dressely, Mark Zuzek, Brian Davis, Stephanie Malm, and Lisa Hedin. Those voting against: none. Whereupon said Resolution is declared duly passed and adopted.
With no further business, a motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Jessica Dressely and seconded by Brian Davis. The vote was: 5 ayes, 0 nays, motion carried unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:56 PM.
