Regular season done, Park girls enter playoffs

Visiting Forest Lake dominated the action Friday, defeating the host Park Wolfpack 60-36 in Suburban East Conference girls' basketball.

It was the final regular season game for the Wolfpack, which ended 3-15 and tied for eighth place in the conference and 9-17 overall.

Forest Lake finished tied for third in the conference with a 13-5 record and stand 20-6 on the season.

The Rangers led 27-19 at the half and then won the second half 33-17.

Senior Graycie Smith scored 9 points to lead Park. Malaya Ramirez and Mariah Nasby had 6 each, Olivia Czarnota and Raimee Ashfaq 5 each.

Fourth-seeded Park will host fifth-seeded Bloomington Jefferson (15-11) Wednesday in a Section 3 quarterfinal, starting at 7 p.m. The Wolfpack won a regular season meeting between the two teams 47-43 earlier in January.

The winner of Park-Jefferson will face the winner of top-seeded and eighth-ranked Rosemount (23-3) and eighth-seeded Apple Valley (3-23) in the semifinals on Saturday. In the other half of the bracket, second-seeded Eastview (18-8) entertains seventh-seeded Burnsville (8-18) and third-seeded Eagan (9-17) hosts sixth-seeded Hastings (16-10).

East Ridge 66, Park 34

Conference-leading East Ridge took a 66-34 decision from visiting Park in Suburban East Conference girls basketball Tuesday.

Olivia Czarnota scored 11 points to lead the Wolfpack. Graycie Smith scored 7, A’meria Dawson 6 and Ramsey Nelson 5.

The Wolfpack fell to 4-14 in the SEC and 9-16 on the season.

East Ridge improved its record to 15-2 in the conference and 20-5 overall.

Thunderbolts play at state this weekend

The South Washington County Thunderbolts (9-1) will play Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville (9-3) in the first round of the 2026 Adapted Jockley CI state tournament.

That game is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. Friday at in Gym A at Bloomington Jefferson High School.

The Thunderbolts edged Lakeville in the regular season, winning 9-8.

Tournament semifinals, third-place, consolation and finals will be played Saturday.

The winner of South Washington-Burnsville will play the winner of Stillwater-Mankato in the semifinals Saturday at noon. Finals are set for Saturday at 4 p.m.

Wolfpack boys hockey season ends at Cretin

Host Cretin-Derham Hall scored three goals in the first period en route to a 5-1 decision over the visiting Park Wolfpack Tuesday in a Class 2A, Section 3 quarterfinal in boys hockey Tuesday.

Suburban East Conference regular season champions, the third-seeded Raiders took charge of the game early at Charles M. Schulz-Highland Arena.

Cretin-Derham Hall’s Soren Saumweber scored just 1:13 into the first period, then the Raiders added two more goals later in the period for a 3-0 lead.

Park senior forward Gavin Sand got the Wolfpack on the scoreboard with an even strength goal at the nine-minute mark of the second period. Nick Bailey had an assist on the play.

But Cretin scored again five minutes later for a 4-1 lead and then put the game on ice with a goal midway through the third period.

Cretin outshot Park 22-17 in the game.

Henry Voss stopped 17 of 22 shots.

Park finished 0-3 against the 10th-ranked Raiders this season, losing 5-4, 4-2 and then 5-1.

Cretin-Derham Hall (20-6) now advances to the section semifinals against second-seeded St. Thomas Academy.

Park ends the season with an 11-13-2 record.

The Wolfpack lose eight seniors off this year’s team including leading scorer Nick Bailey (18 goals, 18 assists), Gavin Sand (10 goals, team leading 22 assists), standout goalie Hank Voss, and several key players such as Luke Dahlstrom and Malachi McMorrow, Brady Siemer, Jake Tronnes and Ethan Bensen.
