The state golf meet was the final event of the year for the Raiders. The state meet was held at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids on June 14 and 15. The boys had the morning session, and the girls had the afternoon.

88 Girls participated in the meet with twoday scores ranging from 221 for 88th place down to the firstplace golfer, Kathryn VonArragon from Blaine who shot a 135. Hastings had two girls in the hunt for a state title. Ashlyn Endres and Lauren Hubbart.

Endres shot an 86 on the first day, 21 behind the leader, on day two, she shot an 82 for a twoday total of 168 good enough for 40th place. The big part of Endres’ total was shooting her first ever 38. Her first sub 40 score was on the west course.

Retiring head coach Becky Hartung spoke glowingly about both girls, saying this about Endres. “These where her career two best rounds. She played really confident both days pulling off some shots that I haven't seen her do. On number four on the west, she was behind some trees, 114 yards out from the green. I thought the safe way to go would be to punch it out on the fairway, Ashlyn said ‘I'm going over the trees.’ I looked at her and said, ‘if you're feeling confident, go for it’, she did, and went over the trees and put it on the green! Unbelievable shot! Her approach shots were also right on, giving her chances at some one putts.”

Hubbart shot an 89 on the first day and a 91 on the second for a total of 180, tying her for 65th. Her play was very consistent throughout the state and section tournaments.

“Lauren had some great shots also both days and she was bombing her drives. Both days her driver was really working well,” added Hartung.

On the boy’s side, Charlie Williams was the lone qualifier for state. The 88 boys that participated scored from a 172 for last place and 140 for first. Williams finished day one with a 79 and day two with a 77 for a total of 156, good enough for 41st place, just 16 out of first. Williams best hole on both days was the par five hole four where he shot two under both days.

With the golf season over, the 2022 spring sports season ends for the Raiders.
