The Senate District 41 Democratic Farmer Labor (DFL) Party will hold caucuses for its 30 precincts on Tuesday, Feb/ 27, starting at 7 p.m. at locations throughout the 13 communities in the district. In-person registration begins at 6:30 p.m. Locations include Hastings Middle School, Oltman Middle School, Denmark Town Hall, Oak-Land Middle School, Afton Lakeland Elementary School, and Mahtomedi Middle School. People can see what precinct they live in and find the exact caucus locations for each precinct at the MN Secretary of State website, https://caucusfinder.sos.state.mn.us/.

DFL precinct caucuses, which are meetings of neighbors who share appreciation for the principles and work of the Minnesota DFL, engage Minnesotans in the important electoral work of democracy.

"We won't keep the democracy our founders believed in unless we elect lawmakers who share our values for liberty and justice for all, and for the rule of law," said district 41 DFL chair Eileen Weber.

Caucus attendees meet candidates, help shape the party's platform and choose people to go to the district's March 16 convention at Oltman Middle School in Cottage Grove to endorse candidates for the Minnesota House of Representatives. Citizens in SD 41 who want to work in the DFL party and vote at convention, but can't attend on Feb. 27, can complete a Precinct Caucus Non-Attendee form https://dfl.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/2024-Precinct-Caucus-Non-Attendee-Form-Signature-Added-V2.pdf and email it to sd41dflibertyandjustice4all@gmail.com the week before the caucuses.

House candidates for each half of the district this year include retired police officer and Afton City Councilmember Lucia Wroblewski on the north end (41A) and Spiral Brewery co-owner and Hastings City Councilmember Jen Fox on the south end (41B). Both Republican incumbents announced they will not seek reelection, leaving both state representative seats open. "With people increasingly turning away from a Republican party they don't recognize anymore," said Weber, "our big-tent party welcomes anyone who wants to join us in focusing on problem solving, helping families afford their lives, and preserving our planet for our children and grandchildren."
