The Minnesota DNR recently reported its largest-ever catch of invasive carp in Minnesota waters with over 400 fish in the Mississippi River near Winona. In light of this, Friends of the Mississippi River and Lake Pepin Legacy Alliance will be co-hosting community action meetings (including a virtual option) to engage people in efforts to protect our rivers, lakes and streams from invasive carp. These meetings will build on previous research we've done and recent
legislative efforts.
The Minnesota DNR is expected to present its newly updated Invasive Carp Action Plan at this meeting. There will also be time for attendees to ask questions and share their feedback.
Meetings are scheduled for:
January 24, 5-7 pm: Red Wing (Anderson Center)
January 30, 5-7 pm: St. Paul and virtual (St. Paul Yacht Club or Zoom)
February 1, 5-7 pm: Winona (Marine Art Museum)
Details and registration for all events are at www.fmr.org/carp-event.
