NOTICE OF PUBLIC REVIEW AND COMMENT

ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT WORKSHEET (eaw)

WALDEN AT HASTINGS

Notice is hereby given that the Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) for Walden at Hastings is available for public review and comment. The EAW may be accessed at Hastings City Hall, 101 East 4th Street, Hastings, Minnesota or via the City’s website: https://www.hastingsmn.gov/city-government/city-charter-ordinances/legal-notices.

Land Equity Development proposes Walden at Hastings containing 511 residential housing units generally located east of TH 316 and Michael Avenue (PID No. 190020051012 and 190110027012)

The 71.1-acre housing project features a phased development plan including single family, twin home, townhome, apartment and senior housing. The five year project is anticipated to commence in 2024. Development will primarily occur in areas currently under cultivation. 17.5 acres of natural areas will be reserved.

The EAW is a brief document designed to lay out the basic facts of a project necessary to determine if an environmental impact statement (EIS) is required for the proposed project. In addition to the legal purpose of the EAW in determining the need for an EIS, the EAW also provides permit information, informs the public about the project, and helps identify ways to protect the environment. The EAW is not meant to approve or deny a project, but instead act as a source of information to guide other approvals and permitting decisions.

The review period officially commences upon publication of the EAW notice in the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s (MPCA) EQB Monitor on December 12, 2023 and terminates on January 11, 2024. The City Council will hold a public hearing at 7:00pm on February 5, 2024 at Hastings City Hall to review EAW comments.

Please contact the City of Hastings with any questions. All persons are welcome to participate and comment.
