Big third period bad news for Hastings girls hockey

South St. Paul broke open a close game in the third period to skate past the Hastings girls hockey team 6-2 Friday at the Hastings Civic Arena.

Hastings had a 27-26 edge on shots on goal but couldn’t get them past the South St. Paul keeper. South St. Paul took a 2-0 lead into period two when Jade Schauer scored for the Raiders at the 2:32 mark on a power play. South St. Paul upper the margin to 3-1 later in the second and then rattled off two even strength and one power pay goal in the third period.

Autumn Burt capped off the Hastings scoring late in the game on an even strength goal with assists from Haley Siebenaler and Addie Seleski.

Victoria Steinke had 20 saves in the goal for Hastings.

South St. Paul went 3-4 on power plays, while Hastings was 1-3. Hastings was penalized eight minutes on four infractions, to six minutes on three infractions for South St. Paul.

On the season, Addie Seleski leads Hastings with 12 points, while Olyvia Erickson and Grace Petrich have nine each, Lauren Muhl and Maddy Schuster have seven each and Burt and Schauer have six each.

In the goal, Steinke has 241 saves on the season and a save percentage of .899.
