Hastings and the US were on the lucky side of the lunar eclipse Sunday night. The timing was perfect to catch the eclipse that started between 9:30-10 p.m. and had the moon in total eclipse around 11:11. Once in the shadow of the earth, a phenomenon known as the Blood Moon started. The Blood Moon is when the moon turns a reddish orange. The reason this happens is that red light is the only color with a wavelength long enough to “get around” the earth. Photos taken at Veterans Park in Hastings by Bruce Karnick
