The Hastings Raiders made the trip up Highway 61 to take on the Park Wolfpack in Cottage Grove for the first round of the MSHSL Section 3AAAA tournament. Hastings entered the contest ranked 47th in the state with a record of 12-13 overall, 1-0 in the section and 6-2 in conference. Cottage Grove entered the contest ranked sixth in the state with a record of 23-4, 3-1 in the section, and 7-0 in the conference.
Note: The record for Hastings was updated this week with games that were missing from the official stats and standings keeping website.
The Wolfpack wasted little time asserting their dominance over the Raiders jumping out to big leads early in the first two sets. Park cruised to a first set victory winning 25-10. The second set was nearly a photocopy of the first game, with Hastings giving the Wolfpack a little more of a challenge, but Park won 25-14. In set three, Hastings put up their biggest fight of the night, but Park still came out on top 25-20 winning the contest 3-0, ending the Raiders season at 12-14 overall.
With the season over, Hastings will graduate seven seniors: Annabel Norquist, Rachel Notch, Allie Leflay, Lauren Meyer, Clare Rieder, Haley Strain and Kate Ruder.
