A woman arrested by Hastings police last week was booked into the Dakota County Jail on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic assault, according to jail records.
Tara Ann Mauch was arrested by the Hastings Police Department at 1:26 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, in Hastings. She was booked into the Dakota County Jail less than an hour later, at 2:10 a.m.
According to the booking record, Mauch was being held pending a charge or investigation following the arrest. The record lists one misdemeanor count of domestic assault, alleging that she intentionally inflicted or attempted to inflict bodily harm on another person.
The charge is listed under Minnesota Statute 609.2242.1(2). The jail record classifies the matter as a ticket and lists the disposition as arrested on probable cause.
The information provided in the booking record does not include details about the circumstances that led to the arrest, including the location of the alleged incident, the identity of the other person involved or the nature of any alleged injuries. It also does not provide a narrative from the Hastings Police Department describing what officers encountered before making the arrest.
Mauch's booking record lists a 48-hour review time of 1:26 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, corresponding with the time of her arrest two days earlier. A 36-hour review was listed for noon Sept. 11.
The record also listed a first appearance for noon Sept. 11 through the jail court system in Hastings. No court disposition was included in the information provided.
Mauch's bail was listed as $0, with the booking record indicating that no bail had been paid. The record did not list an anticipated release date.
The case is the latest domestic assault arrest handled by Hastings police to appear in the Dakota County Jail booking system. Jail records often provide the initial information surrounding an arrest, including when a person was taken into custody, the arresting agency and the suspected offense, but they may contain limited information about the events that resulted in the arrest.
In this case, the record identifies the Hastings Police Department as both the arresting and controlling agency. The listed reason for the hold was "Pending Charge/Investigation."
The domestic assault allegation listed in the jail record involves intentionally inflicting or attempting to inflict bodily harm on another person. The charge was classified as a misdemeanor at the time Mauch was booked.
The booking record does not indicate whether additional charges were being considered, and only one charge was listed when the record was produced. No court case number was included with the charge information.
The timing of the arrest placed Mauch in custody during the early morning hours of Sept. 9, followed by processing at the Dakota County Jail shortly afterward. The record identifies the arrest city as Hastings and lists the Dakota County Jail as her inmate location following booking.
As with all jail booking information, the listed charge reflects an allegation associated with an arrest and is not a finding of guilt. An arrest based on probable cause does not mean a person has been convicted of the offense.
Mauch is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
