Thank you for the positive words supporting the postal workers that deliver through all types of adversity. I’m a 30, year retired letter carrier with some knowledge of the problems you addressed in your piece last week. The loss of the local delivery bin has nothing to do with any union rules or restrictions. You really should return to your source and ask for clarification on their belief that this is the reason. In reality the move was an effort to reduce the number of hours that clerks used handling the mail by sorting it manually. That personal touch was lost and replaced by automation. Perhaps a more in-depth article on one of the local post offices would be a good and informative story. Thank you Mark P. OBrien
