"Steamboats, Towboats, and River History Exhibition" will be opening the weekend of May 3, 2025 at The Prescott History Center. It will bring Prescott’s river history to life through river maps, an array of river pictures, pictures of towboats and steamboats, artifacts, speakers and an exhibition booklet with more steamboat, towboat, and river history and information.
Join us for the opening of this special exhibition the weekend of May 3 and May 4. Weekend hours throughout the year are every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. There are special additional hours for opening week of the Exhibition, so you can also visit Monday, May 5th through Friday, May 9th from 4 to 7 p.m.
We are also excited to offer a special speaker series that will accompany this new exhibition on Steamboats, Towboats, and River History.
Sunday, May 4 - 1:00 p.m. - Dr. John Anfinson - Views on the Upper Mississippi River: The Photographs of Henry Peter Bosse presentation, at the Prescott History Center.
Friday, June 6 - 7:00 p.m. - Lee Hendrix - Peep Light: Stories of a Mississippi River Boat Captain presentation, at the Prescott History Center.
Friday, July 11 - 7:00 p.m. - Robert Taunt - Recollections of a Steamboat Pilot - George Byron Merrick presentation, at the Prescott History Center.
Saturday, July 12 - 11:00 p.m. - Kelly Johnson and Jean Halverson - Presentation of their book "Grandma and Grandpa's Great Loop Adventure", at the Prescott History Center.
Friday, August 8 - 7:00 p.m. - Dallas Eggers - Steamboats Comin', A History of Steamboats presentation, at the Prescott History Center
All of the events are taking place at The Prescott History Center at 235 Broad Street in Prescott (next to the clock tower and bridge).
