Hastings High School is proud to announce that four students were recently recognized as HHS recipients of MSHSL awards. All four will be considered for additional state-level recognition.
Triple “A” Award
Mikayla Schuster and Noah Quigley are recipients of the Triple “A” Award. Triple “A” – academics, athletics, and arts - is a program designed to honor high school seniors who have excelled in the classroom, on the athletic field, and in the fine arts.
Mikayla has a 4.0 cumulative GPA and is enrolled in multiple Advanced Placement and College in the Schools courses. She is a multi-sport athlete in tennis and track/field. Mikayla is a repeat letter winner, captain, academic all-state and repeat all-conference honorable mention in tennis. She is a repeat letter winner and captain in track/field. She is a three-year participant in choir and four-year participant in band. In band she has been named all-conference and received a superior rating in solo/ensemble contest. She is also active in National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Peer Tutors, Link Crew, 4H, Youth in Government and is a FCA Huddle Leader. Mikayla plans to attend Michigan Technological University, where she intends to major in Mechatronics Engineering and participate in band and club athletics.
Noah has a 3.94 cumulative GPA and is enrolled in multiple Advanced Placement and College in the Schools courses. He is a multi-sport athlete in cross country, Nordic ski and track/field. He is a repeat letter winner, captain and all-conference in both cross country and Nordic ski. He is a repeat letter winner in track/field. Noah is a four-year participant in orchestra, where he is a 3x section leader and has participated in solo/ensemble contests. He is also active in National Honor Society, 4H, FFA, and Youth in Government. Noah plans to attend the University of Minnesota-Twin-Cities, where he intends to double-major in Biomedical Engineering and ROTC with an Ag-Science minor and he will compete on the Army National Guard Biathlon Team.
ExCEL Award
Sienna McCoy and Lukas Foss are recipients of the ExCEL Award. ExCEL - Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership – is a unique program designed exclusively for high school juniors who are active in school activities, who show leadership qualities, and who work voluntarily in their community.
Sienna is a multi-sport athlete in cross-country and softball. She is a Link Crew leader and FCA Huddle Captain. She has a 4.0 CUM GPA and is a member of Spanish Honor Society, Spanish Club, FCA and the Writing Center. Volunteer activities include Feed My Starving Children, coaching HYAA softball and cleaning/helping at downtown Hastings organizations.
Lukas is a multi-sport athlete in football, basketball, and track. He is a two-sport captain in football and basketball. He has a 4.0 GPA and is a member of FCA, Peer Helpers, and the Athlete Leadership Council. Volunteer activities include serving as a coach for youth football and basketball teams and clinics and at local sport facility cleanups.
