Rosemary “Rose” Kranz, age 91 of Hastings, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday morning, Sept. 18, 2023.
Rosemary McShane, the daughter of Thomas and Josephine (Boyd) McShane, was born on March 20, 1932, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Rose was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic Faith at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hopkinsville. She attended Belmont Grade School and later St. Joseph’s Boarding School in Maple Mountain, Kentucky, where she graduated with the class of 1950. Rose continued her education for two more years until meeting her future husband, James “Wimpy” Kranz, who was stationed there during his National Guard days. On Aug. 7, 1954, they were united in marriage at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and soon welcomed their first child Thomas in 1955. They eventually moved to Hastings where she and Wimpy successfully owned and operated Kranz Printing, now Graphic Design, which is still owned and operated within the family. Rose was a devout Catholic, and dedicated member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. As a member, Rose continually dedicated her time as RCIA instructor, visited the homebound, helped as a eucharistic minister and sacristan, and also enjoyed singing in the choir. Rose was also a talented seamstress who sewed countless outfits for infants that experienced sudden death, her dedication was appreciated by countless people within the Hastings community. Rose was always grateful for the countless gifts from God throughout her life, especially for her faith, family, and her husband, Wimpy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Patsy Kranz and Cecelia Schade; and by her husband, Wimpy.
Rose is survived by her children, Thomas (Jeanne) Kranz, Peter (Jackie) Kranz, Larry (Jerry) Kranz, Jerry (Denise) Kranz, Mary Jo (Dave) Myers, Paul (Jason) Kranz, and Michael Kranz; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, with Father David Hennen officiating. Interment will be held at the parish cemetery.
Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 9- 11:00 a.m., and to a reception immediately following the Mass, all at church on Friday.
Rose’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the many Home Health Aides that have been there for Rose in her final days, especially Angie, Vickie, Carolyn, and Carol.
In lieu of flowers, Rose requested memorials to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church or the Assumption Abbey in North Dakota.
