Emilee Bible, representing the Hastings Civic Arena and River Blades Skating School, is preparing to compete in the 2023 Ice Sports Industry’s (ISI) World Recreational Team Championships Aug. 3-6 at Nashoba Valley Olympia in Boxborough, Mass.
ISI Worlds is recognized as the largest annual recreational ice-skating competition in the country. It offers more than 25 different skating event categories for individuals, partners, groups and teams.
This year’s competition will feature nearly 800 competitors of all skill levels representing 50 rink teams from 16 states and the Philippines, with ages ranging from 1 to 81.
Coaches Amanda Truax and Hanna Isadore are preparing Bible to compete in three solo categories including: Solo Skills Program, Dramatic Spotlight, and Character Spotlight events.
Over the past 64 years, the Ice Sports Industry, formerly known as the Ice-Skating Institute, has introduced more than 10 million individuals to ice skating through the country’s first national learn-to-skate program. ISI offers something for every skater, from those who want to skate “just for fun” to aspiring Olympic champions.
The ISI recreational ice-skating program is based on “participation, not elimination” and features numerous major recreational competitions each year, with Worlds being the largest. Among the national champions and Olympians who started in ISI programs are Jason Brown, Ashley Wagner, Gracie Gold, Kristi Yamaguchi, Michelle Kwan, Mirai Nagasu, Sasha Cohen, Evan Lysacek, Dorothy Hamill and more.
Levito to perform
During this year’s Worlds, 2023 U.S Champion Isabeau Levito will star in the ISI Benefit Show at 7 p.m. Aug. 5 at New England Sports Center in Marlboro, Mass. The exhibition will also showcase selected performances by Worlds competitors. The ISI Benefit Show is open to all, and tickets can be purchased at skateisi.org/benefitshow.
