On August 20th, 2020, the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page had the below post. Thank you DCSO for giving us permission to share a positive story involving a deputy and glad to hear everyone was ok. Our local officers and deputies do tremendous work in the community and county often having that great work go un-noticed. If you happen to encounter any of these great folks doing great work, please take a moment to thank them. If you catch a photo or two, SEE REINERS PAGE 6 Deputy Reiners From Page 1

don’t be afraid to submit them with a thank you to not only their departments, but to us here at the Journal by emailing [email protected] .

FROM DCSO Facebook Page: Earlier today Deputy Jon Reiners was patrolling Clayton Avenue when he was flagged down at 170th Street by a motorist. The vehicle was driving to a hospital by a male driver. A female passenger had a large laceration to her left forearm that occurred at their house. The laceration was down to the bone and despite direct pressure, the wound was bleeding excessively. Deputy Reiners radioed for an ambulance and applied a tourniquet, stopping the bleeding. The female was transported to the hospital by ambulance. Often Deputies will arrive first on scene and will utilize life saving measures while medics are often 10-20+ minutes away. The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office takes pride in our emergency first aid skills and this is just one of many examples where a Deputy was able to provide life saving measures.
