The recement closure of the Fireside Social House at 106 Second Street East in Hastings had residents wondering what would happen to the location that has been some form of bar and restaurant combination for decades. Residents can wonder no more.

The space will re-open as a bar and grill called the Quarry Taphouse. Co-owners Randy and Sara Stenger issued a press release on January 26th regarding the new entertainment establishment. The Quarry will be a bluecollar focused restaurant and bar that will bring American food and a fun atmosphere for the whole family to enjoy.

The Stenger’s are the owners of Extreme Sandbox, the heavy equipment adventure company located at 1901 Glendale Road, just east of Smead Manufacturing on East Tenth Street.

In the statement, Sara Stenger said, “We are thrilled to be bringing a new restaurant experience to downtown Hastings. Downtown Hastings has such a rich history of unique businesses, so we are looking forward to being a part of the area.”

The space is undergoing some modern updates so that the staff can welcome guests

into a self-proclaimed ‘Bluecollar bougie’, casual and fun space. The menu will include ‘a variety of tasty smash burgers, mouthwatering wings, taco favorites, and other unique dishes to satisfy any appetite.’ They will also feature a series of rotating taps at the bar with an assortment of local and favorite brews.

The space is being redecorated and changed to reflect the laid-back feel of the restaurant while maintaining the historic Hastings charm of the building. The main floor will be the public entertainment and dining space while the upper floor will be available for private parties, meetings and celebrations.

The Quarry Taphouse will also feature a recreation space filled with activities for all ages including a first of it’s kind stone throwing area.

“Axe throwing has become such a popular form of entertainment, that we wanted to create something similar, but unique to our quarry theme,” Randy said in the statement.

There will also be a working mini tower crane and digger for kids to play on along with other activities.

The Quarry Taphouse expects to open sometime in mid-February. They are currently hiring, for more details, visit quarrytaphouse.com
