HASTINGS, Minn., Oct. 8, 2026 — A historic downtown riverfront property has new owners, and the announcement is stirring memories and excitement in the community. Husband-and-wife team Tommy and Lacey Parmeter purchased 100 Sibley Street on September 29 and are inviting the community to share its stories, photographs and ideas for the building’s future.
For more than a century, 100 Sibley Street has played a part in Hastings’ business and community life. It has housed Kingston’s Garage, Bahls Motor and Implement, the Eagles Club, Hastings City Hall and the county court, with Hastings Golden Gloves boxers training in the basement. More recently, the Levee Cafe and Onion Grille welcomed diners and families celebrating special occasions.
“Our hope is to build on what makes downtown Hastings special and give people another reason to spend time here,” the Parmeters said.
The couple’s introduction on the Hastings, MN Community Facebook group has already drawn approximately 1,800 reactions and more than 450 comments, reflecting strong local interest in the building’s future.
The comments include warm welcomes, offers of help from nearby businesses, and memories of meals, weddings and anniversaries in the building. People have also shared ideas for future dining options and encouraged the owners to preserve features connected to the building’s history.
“Thank you for investing in preserving the history!” one commenter wrote. Another said they were “looking forward to seeing what this new adventure brings to our wonderful town!”
The Parmeters are asking former employees, customers and anyone with a connection to the address to share their memories. They are also seeking old photographs, menus, newspaper clippings and family stories that could help piece together the building’s history.
They welcome feedback on what the community values about the property and ideas for its future.
The Parmeters are focused on finding the right tenants to bring something special to the building’s next chapter, making the most of its historic character and some of the best riverfront views in town.
The owners will share further updates as their ideas develop. Reporters interested in the story and community members with memories, photographs or ideas to share can reach the Parmeters using the contact information below.
