The Metropolitan Governance Task Force, chaired by Rep. Frank Hornstein (DFL - Minneapolis)
and Sen. Eric Pratt (R - Prior Lake), will host a series of public engagement meetings to hear input regarding the
governance structure of the Metropolitan Council. The Task Force is seeking input into whether the Metropolitan
Council should remain solely governor-appointed or other options should be considered. The task force is also
seeking input into how the Metropolitan Council can be made more transparent and accountable. The meetings
are reserved explicitly for conducting public listening sessions and hearing testimony from citizens.
Those interested in participating must fill out this RSVP form if they would like to provide testimony. The dates and
locations of the meeting are as follows:
• Friday, December 8, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Wilder Foundation in St. Paul
• Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 12:00 PM at the Lake Elmo City Center in Lake Elmo
• Friday, January 5, 2024 at 12:00 PM at the University of Minnesota's Robert J. Jones Urban Research and
Outreach-Engagement Center (UROC) in Minneapolis
• Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 6:00 PM at the Scott County Government Center in Shakopee
Each of these public engagement meetings will take place in dual locations, both at the Capitol and at the offsite
location, however, public testimony will only be taken at the offsite location. A full list of the Task Force’s meetings
