The Hastings Raiders Marching Band season is officially underway. The Raiders competed at two different competitions this past Saturday where they claimed multiple awards along with two second place finishes. This year’s show is based on the ghost with the most, Warner Brothers ‘Beetlejuice’.
At the Eden Prairie Competition, Hastings competed against seven other area bands placing second. They also earned Outstanding Percussion Caption and Outstanding Drum Major Oliver Gergen.
At Eastview, they once again placed second out of eight total bands and Oliver Gergen received the Outstanding Drum Major award. They also earned Outstanding Wind Section Caption.
Home Show
Each year the Raider Marching Band hosts a field show as an opportunity for local residents to view their competition performance on Todd Field. This year, that free event is scheduled for Saturday, September 21, at 6:00 p.m. This show is normally about 45 minutes long and is free to attend. There will be band boosters at the gate accepting freewill donations that are used to help offset transportation costs.
The show breaks down the individual section’s performance with commentary from the instructions of that section. Fans will witness breakdowns for winds/horn line, battery (percussion), frontline/pit (percussion) and color guard before they put it all together to wow the audience with their performances.
Additionally, the Drumline just kicked off the competitive season with a Drum-a-thon where they raised almost $2,500! Visit www.hastingsbandsboosters.org/donate if you would like to support them as they are always accepting donations. (Please note the “S” in the URL. hastingS bandS boosterS.)
The next chance to see the band in action is at the Rosemount Festival, Saturday, Sept. 14, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Rosemount High School.
