To the editor,
The Hastings Prescott Arts Council (HPAC) would like to thank the Power of 100 Women for their $18,700 award to our organization at the Power of 100 Women bi-annual meeting at the Hastings Golf Club and Events on Thursday, April 24, 2025.
This award will allow HPAC to provide arts activities for residents at both the Benedictine Living Center Regina and the Hastings Veterans Home. Additionally, the Power of 100 Women awarded DARTS and Rise Up Recovery funds to provide transportation for their clients.
Since 2019 the Power of 100 Women Hastings has raised over $250,000 to distribute to a cross-section of local organizations, including such entities as This Old Horse, the Hastings Rotary Club Cycling without Age program, a memorial children’s park in Prescott and funds for a new bus at the Hastings Living and Health Center residents.
Twice a year, Power of 100 Women Hastings Chair Melissa Freiermuth and the Core 10 Team of women organize and run a 75-minute meeting at the Hastings Golf Club and Event Center at which each organization gives a seven-minute presentation about their project and a three-minute question and answer period. The votes are tallied, the winner is announced, and each woman writes a $100 check to the winning organization. The remaining two organizations also receive funds from participants, the Doffing Fund and other donors.
I am grateful for the Power of 100 Women in our community. This organization is charity in its purest form. The women come from different lifestyles, belief systems and professions but share the common goal of helping others in the community. Thank you, Melissa Freiermuth and the Core 10 Team.
